The Parsons Police Department has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1870. Today the agency is a modern operation that serves a resident population of 9,665 citizens according to the 2018 estimates, which makes Parsons the 36th largest city in Kansas.

The Labette County Sheriff’s Office has been serving the citizens of Labette County for nearly 150 years, with the first Sheriff having been appointed in 1867. In addition to providing primary law enforcement in the unincorporated areas of the county twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, in the cities of Angola, Bartlett, Edna, Labette, Mound Valley, and Valeda.
